Two Reunion have now taken place and a third is planned for 12th May 2012
Our sincere thanks go to Roger Setchfield for with out him there would have been no reunions and no web site.
Roger spent many hours of organising, writing, typing and phoning to get the first reunion in 2009 off the ground.
It took place 27th June at The Marriot Hotel in Huntingdon, 28 members attended and talked of old times, renewed old friendships and made plans for the future, as a result the 101st Entry web site was launched and reached more members who joined the group.
Everyone met in the private bar, after 44 years few changes could be spotted, but the Entry spirit still remained and in no time everyone was chatting as if it was yesterday they had last met.
The ‘Entry Dinner’ was taken in the hotel restaurant and was followed by some entertaining speeches.
Bob Jones suggested that a stained glass window should be commissioned and installed in St Georges Church. He then spent the next year organising the design, manufacture and installation the task was completed just in time for the 2010 Reunion. During this time he also managed to commission and place a 101st Entry paver stone in the Halton Grove at the National Memorial Arboretum.
The event was a great success and everyone agreed that it had to be repeated.
Haf Mann took over the reins in 2010 when he organised a superb reunion at Aylesbury that was timed to coincide with the Halton Triennial.
The weekend was started with a party at Haf and Zaheda’s house that was enjoyed by all who attended.
Saturday was the Halton Triennial, where a well organised and entertaining programme of events took place.
In the evening 33 members attended and thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Entry Meal’ at The Chequers Inn at Western Turnville.
On Sunday morning there was a tour of Halton House followed by the dedication of the Entry Window in St Georges Church.
A special mention must be given to those who travelled from far off lands to be there, they included Bruce Rogers from Australia, John Glover from South Africa, Brian Almond and David Cambell from Hong Kong and Ian and Mimi Brunton from Trinidad, and of course to Haf who’s hours of work in putting together such a great weekend were greatly appreciated by all.
Bob Jones also deserves a special mention, his church window is a great success, our thanks go him and to Karen Newby who designed and made the window.
Bob Beaver and Maurice Neal are working on the 2012 Reunion (a celebration of 50 years)
It is due to take place at The Telford Hotel and Golf Resort on May 12th
Details for the event are yet to be finalised, but as a number of members are planning to arrive on Friday afternoon / evening the suggested format is as follows:-
Friday evening. Informal gathering in Hotel Bar, the evening meal is included in the deal, so enjoy the excellent food served in the ‘1779 Restaurant’
Saturday Morning. Enjoy the buffet breakfast and then the morning is free to enjoy the local area or a game of golf on the Hotel’s 18 hole course or use the hotel’s leisure and sports facilities .
Saturday Afternoon. From 14.00 drop in to the bar for an informal gathering.
Saturday evening. The Entry Dinner will be served in a private room.
Sunday Morning. Buffet breakfast and either a game of golf or make your way home.
Please remember that the room rate of £50 per person per night in a shared room or £70 per night in a single room includes a £25 per person allowance to spend in the restaurant
